I chose to apply for this unique opportunity to serve children. My unwavering commitment to my community runs deep, and it is a testament to my life's work and dedication. Throughout the years, I have gone the extra mile, providing vital transportation, unwavering support, and invaluable guidance to my own children, grandchildren, and friends as they navigated their educational journeys within the Denver Public Schools (DPS) system.
This commitment extends through multiple generations within my family. My granddaughter, a dedicated middle school teacher, embodies the passion for education that has been a cornerstone of our family. My daughter-in-law has faithfully served DPS for over two decades, contributing to the bonds we share with the DPS community. Additionally, four of my own children and stepchildren have proudly graduated from DPS, making our family intimately acquainted with the system's strengths and challenges. I have ten grandchildren who have either attended or successfully graduated from DPS. They represent the potential and promise that lies within the DPS educational experience. Their educational journeys have been a source of great pride and inspiration, motivating me to advocate tirelessly for the continued improvement of our schools, for equity, and for the opportunities that every child rightfully deserves.
My commitment to my community is not a mere campaign promise but a lifelong dedication to education's transformative power. I am deeply devoted to the betterment of DPS because I understand, firsthand, the profound impact it can have on the futures of our children. My lifelong involvement, and the lasting legacy of my family within DPS, serve as a resounding testament to my commitment to ensuring that every child in our community has access to a world-class education.
